Home Comfort for Children with Cancer
Project Summary
There is an extremely high mortality rate of childhood cancer sufferers in Zimbabwe. The RoundTable of Zimbabwe , Meikles Foundation and KidzCan, are working together to provide a nurturing environment that welcomes disadvantaged children who are recuperating from the effects of cancer treatment(s), as well as an accompanying parent or caregiver. The RoundTable of Zimbabwe has donated their land and building to be used for this project. The Rainbow Children’s Village is supported by professionals in the field of Childhood Cancer in Zimbabwe. The facility’s design is inspired by the arcs of the rainbow. Each unit will take its colour after one of the colours of the rainbow.
The first phase of this project was completed in 2023 allowing Rainbow Children’s Village to open their facility and the first children together with their caretakers now have a restful place to recuperate.
The second phase of building has been funded and was completed at the beginning of 2024.
The funds raised by I61 Foundation have contributed to the construction of phase one, and more recently to the purchase of beds, soft furnishings and veranda furniture.
Thank you to everyone involved in making the dream to support these vulnerable children a reality.
