Project Overview

This project supports the newly established Albion Multipurpose Campsite by providing 80 single mattresses to equip its dormitories. These facilities will allow CEF to run children’s camps, youth programs, trainings, and family outreach activities in a safe and comfortable environment. The additional sleeping capacity will help serve more children, particularly those from vulnerable communities, and improve access to developmental programs.

Description of Project

CEF’s main social goal is to promote a healthy attitude among the children and young people of Mauritius, as well as their families, by raising their awareness in entertaining a positive approach to life and providing them with academic, social and character-building classes and activities. The children are mostly from deprived backgrounds and from all over the island. CEF’s office is located in Port Louis and currently serving 25 areas in Mauritius, supporting about 300 children. CEF also supports the vulnerable families they work with by assisting them in their times of need.

CEF Mauritius has launched a multipurpose centre in Albion to support ongoing academic, social, and developmental activities for children and youth. For the centre to host overnight stays and multi-day programs, proper dormitory facilities are required. The acquisition of 80 single mattresses will enable the campsite to operate effectively and serve children who otherwise face barriers to participation due to distance, financial limitations, or lack of safe spaces.

Increased access to safe and adequate accommodation for children attending camps and developmental programs.
Higher participation from vulnerable children due to improved proximity and reduced barriers.
Stronger community engagement through year-round activities supported by proper dormitory facilities.
