Project Overview

Ecole du Jour is an alternative day-school for children facing academic and social challenges. The programme provides structured academic support, emotional guidance, nutritional reinforcement, and a safe day environment. Without such intervention, children risk dropping out of school and spending long hours unsupervised, increasing their vulnerability. Future Hope supports more than 150 children across four centres, demonstrating strong impact.

Background of NGO

Future Hope is dedicated to supporting children who are unable to follow the standard school curriculum and are at risk of becoming “street children.” The organization provides a safe environment where these children receive daily breakfast and lunch during the day school, which operates from 09:00 to 14:00. Most of the children come from underprivileged backgrounds.

In addition to the main day school, Future Hope runs four other learning centres located in Sainte Croix, Roche Bois, Cite La Cure, and Petite Riviere. These centres operate after school hours, from 15:30 to 17:00, and are staffed by volunteers who generously donate their time to assist the children.

Description of Project

The project provides tailored academic assistance, life skills development, and supervised daily programmes aligned with the Ministry of Education calendar. Many children join with low literacy and unstable home structures. Teachers trained through ANFEN deliver non-formal education adapted to each child’s pace. The programme focuses on restoring interest in learning, improving health through nutrition, providing mentoring, and encouraging responsible decision-making. Practical training and exposure to professionals help students build aspirations and future pathways.

Expected Project Impact
  • Improved literacy and numeracy levels.

  • Older students accessing training encouraged younger ones.

  • 34 enrolled and 30 completed the year.

  • 4 students joined onthejob training programs.

  • Partnerships with NinetySix Hotels and Les Moulins de la Concorde offered training opportunities.

  • Positive response from a new sponsor; continued support from LMLC, PwC, and Lottotech.

  • Increased enrolment reflected growing trust in families.

  • Stability supported through the fullyear salary of one teacher, enabling two additional parttime teachers.
